Getting back after the match
The subway is very crowded after the game. Some fans walk about 25 minutes to JR Hyogo Station instead.
Where to stay
Choose your base by what matters most on this trip: a short walk back after the final whistle, or the best spot for sightseeing.
Tickets
Tickets are sold through the club’s official website, and popular matches can sell out, so buy as soon as your travel dates are fixed. Some clubs offer English guidance or tickets for international visitors. Only buy from official sellers: in Japan it is illegal to resell match tickets above face value without the organiser’s permission, and tickets from unofficial sites may be refused at the gate.
On matchday
Arrive about 90 minutes before kick-off. Local food such as sobameshi (fried noodles and rice) and Kobe beef dishes are highlights. The box-shaped stands sit close to the pitch, like a European stadium.
Weather and what to bring
The stadium has a retractable roof, but it is usually open for matches, so dress for the weather. Kobe city and the club have been restoring and upgrading the stadium’s cooling system, with new equipment planned by summer 2028. For a full checklist, see what to bring to a J.League match, and for December and February games, what to wear to a winter match.
Make a day of it
Worth adding to your trip:

Kobe is famous for its beef, and Sannomiya has many restaurants serving it.
- Nankinmachi and Meriken Park
Kobe's Chinatown and the harbourfront park, both easy to combine with a match.
